This species was first identified in the 1960s by German microbiologist Gerhard Reuter, after whom it would eventually be named Lactobacillus reuteriis. It is one of the most common naturally occurring probiotic gut bacteria and plays a very important protective role for a wide range of mammals and birds. In humans, L. reuteri has been shown to protect the entire digestive tract - from the mouth, through the stomach and into the large intestine.

Each capsule of our new L. Reuteri Plus contains an impressive 5 billion microscopic defenders, and we’ve also included two other beneficial gut bacteria – L. Rhimnosus and L. acidophilus – to ensure you get full spectrum probiotic support. To help your beneficial bacteria thrive naturally, we’ve also added 200mg of NutraFlora® scFOS® (short-chain fructooligosaccharides) – a natural prebiotic fibre whose short-chain structure makes it an ideal food source for the beneficial gut bacteria.

To ensure that the probiotic organisms reach the lower gastrointestinal tract safely, we have chosen the special DRcaps® capsules, which protect the contents from the degrading action of stomach acids.
