Sambucus (sugar-free) syrup 120 ML contains standardized, patented elderberry extract BioActives®. BioActives® is obtained from the fruits of the unique elderberry variety Haschberg, which is grown in the region of Styria (Steirmark), Austria. The variety was specially selected because the soils in the Styrian region are rich in minerals and other nutrients. Thanks to this, Haschberg is distinguished by a high content of naturally occurring flavonoids.
Unlike other elderberry extracts, BioActives® is extracted without the use of solvents, using a patented process called Holistic Membrane Extraction. This innovative extraction method extracts the beneficial components from all parts of the fruit, while the extract maximally preserves the nutritional qualities of the fresh plant.
According to data from studies conducted in Germany, BioActives® can inhibit the growth of influenza viruses type A and B, as well as the growth of bacteria that lead to upper respiratory tract infections (Krawitz et al., 2011).
