Methyl folic acid is necessary to support cardiovascular and neurological health, as well as cell division, especially in those with common genetic variations that limit its biosynthesis. Taking folic acid during pregnancy has been shown to reduce the risk of birth defects.
Methyl Folic Acid ((6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate acid or (6S)-5-MTHF) is the most biologically active form of folic acid available on the market today. The patented Quatrefolic® formula represents the 4th generation in the development of folate delivery. In most people, due to some inherited errors in metabolism or due to various forms of physiological stress, the transformation of folic acid into the active form of folate does not occur properly or is inadequate. A better approach is to take the bioactive folate 5-MTHF directly. There is evidence that 5-MTHF dramatically increases the concentration of folate in red blood cells - an indicator of folate status compared to folic acid supplements.
Recommended intake: 1 capsule daily with food or as directed by your qualified healthcare professional.
Note: Elderly people should frequently check their B12 status when taking folic acid because folic acid may mask pernicious anemia. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, lactating, trying to conceive, under the age of 18, or are taking medications (especially antiepileptic medications and chemotherapy), consult your doctor before using this product.
