ElementAll™ Biological Diet is an elemental diet featuring a complete, balanced and easily digestible set of nutritional nutrients, vitamins and minerals, selected specifically to support gastrointestinal health.
What is an elemental diet?
This is a nutritional formula, usually in liquid form, that contains all the necessary macro and micronutrients in their simplest form. In it, proteins are broken down into free amino acids, fats are in the form of medium-chain triglycerides, and carbohydrates are simple sugars. They also include the vitamins and minerals necessary for complete nutrition.
Some elemental diets are based on hypoallergenic formulas. One such is the ElementAll™ Biological Diet, which is free of dairy, soy, wheat, gluten, yeast, eggs, seafood, as well as artificial colors, preservatives, and sweeteners. Elemental diets can be consumed as a dietary supplement or, on the advice of a physician, as a primary food for a certain period of time.
How does the elemental diet work?
Since the formula includes degraded macronutrients, the elemental diet is easily absorbed in the first meters of the small intestine, without overloading the digestive system, allowing it to rest and recover. Thus, it helps maintain a healthy gastrointestinal mucosa, normal intestinal permeability, and a healthy lactulose/L-rhamnose ratio.
Additionally, the elemental diet contains no or very little prebiotics and fiber, which helps limit the proliferation of harmful bacteria and normalize the intestinal microbiome. Thus, it helps the body deal with cellular waste, contributes to improving joint health and the condition of the digestive system organs.
What are the health effects of the elemental diet?
→ Supports gastrointestinal health – The elemental diet suppresses the secretion of stomach acid, pancreatic enzymes, and bile. This helps limit the loss of epithelial cells and reduce intestinal permeability. The elemental diet also stimulates the migrating myoelectric complex (MMC), a motor activity that helps move bacteria from the small intestine to the large intestine, thus reducing the likelihood of gas and bloating after eating.
→ Supports the treatment of autoimmune conditions – Clinical studies have shown that following an allergen-free elemental diet helps alleviate the symptoms of many autoimmune conditions. Most of the patients in the study initially had elevated levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha, which normalized within a few months with strict adherence to the diet.
→ Suppresses the body's inflammatory response – A key factor in regulating intestinal immunity and, consequently, inflammation of the intestinal mucosa are small signaling molecules called cytokines. The elemental diet suppresses the production of mucosal cytokines and thus contributes to reducing the antigen load and limiting inflammatory processes in the intestine.
Using an allergen-free elemental diet also inhibits free radical production, improves the composition of the gut microbiome, and aids in the treatment of a number of problems such as Crohn's disease, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, eosinophilic esophagitis, and others.
