Beta carotene is a form of Vitamin A, it is converted to Vitamin A in the intestines and is therefore also called provitamin A. This substance is mainly found in plants such as carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, spinach and kale, and fruits such as melons and apricots. Beta carotene is different from the animal form of Vitamin A, which is found in foods such as eggs, liver, cheese and whole milk. Taking Beta carotene maintains optimal levels of Vitamin A, which is a major factor in eye health, the immune system, growth and development of the body (especially for children), and skin health. Beta carotene reduces the rate of skin aging, reduces the risk of night blindness and dry eyes. Beta carotene is an important and powerful antioxidant that protects cells (especially skin and retinal cells).
